Biography

Zachariah Taylor Messer was born in 1846. [1][2] He served with the Confederate States of America in the 5th Battalion, Florida Calvary. [3] He married Priscilla Kate Nichols Hewett in 1866. [4]By 1880, the two were farming in Pippins Mills, Calhoun, Florida with five children. [5]In 1900, Zach and Priscilla were farming in Board Head, Calhoun, Florida. In 1884, he was appointed as the postmaster in Chipola, Calhoun, Florida. [6][7] By 1910, he was living with his son Alfred, both of them widowers, in Traylors Mill, Calhoun, Florida. [8] He died in 1911. [9]
