Biography

John Martin was born on 2 September 1833 in Van Diemen's Land, Australia, son of Sarah (Exton) Martin and Rev Samuel Martin.^[1]

He married Emily Susannah Gleadow on 10 August 1865 in Launceston, Tasmania. Their children were:^{[citation needed]}

• John Beresford Martin (1866– )
• Selina Maude Martin (1873–1931)

John died in 1911 in South Yarra, Victoria, aged 76 years.^[2] His remains were buried at Boroondara General Cemetery in Kew, Victoria.^[3]
