Family history is my passion having always been curious about those who came before me. As a child I followed the obituaries in the newspapers. I grew up knowing my grandparents who were happy to share family stories and the names of their parents. I was fascinated by the old framed family portraits that hung in the homes of my grandparent's generation. What stories they could have told.

I am grateful to be part of this exciting age of instant communication, endless sources at our fingertips, and DNA. Super-tools for the family historian. Becoming a serious genealogist in 1999, I am in awe of how far we have come in such a short time.

Personal History

Christol James was born in Ontario, Canada.

Born in the 1950s in small town Ontario, Christol grew up knowing many extended family. She was the eldest of five girls, a close sisterhood with no brothers. Her parents married young and divorced in the early 1970s.

Christol James lived in British Columbia.

After high school Christol went into the health care field, first as a Care Aide, then a Registered Nurse. After moving to British Columbia she became a Nurse Specialist in wound and ostomy care. That career provided many rewards and promoted life long love of learning.

Christol retired from nursing in 2018 and has been a full-time volunteer, helping others with their genealogy research and DNA mysteries. Equally as rewarding as her working career.

Christol is married with two children, and 2 step children, all adults. Together, she and her husband have 4 grandchildren.

Christol and her husband are enjoying retirement on Canada's west coast.
