John Harris was born on August 8, 1658, in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, the son of John Harris, Sr. and Hannah (Briggs) Harris.[1] [2][3]
John Harris the elder died by 1664, and his (2nd) wife, Hannah (Briggs) Harris married Wolston Brockway, Sr.[1] John Harris the son of John Harris and Hannah Briggs was raised in Lyme, Connecticut by his mother Hannah and his step-father Wolston Brockway.[1]
John Harris made his living as a carpenter.[1]
John Harris married by 26 Feb 1691/2 Mehitable Danks, daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Swift) (Webb) Danks.[1]
John and Mehitable had (probably) four children - John Harris b. Northampton, Massachusetts in 1696, Mary Harris "the Indian captive", Philip Harris of Simsbury, Connecticut, and a Thomas Harris who lived at Saybrook in the 1730s.[1]
John Harris died between 1696 and 1702, probably near Springfield, Massachusetts.[1]
Mehitable married as her second husband John Sackett II on 17 May 1703 at Westfield, Massachusetts.[1]
