MR. T. J. ELLEM.

Mr. Thomas James Ellem passed away in the Casino Memorial Hospital on Friday night after a brief illness.

A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Ellem, he was born at Whiteman's Creek, on the Clarence, 72 years ago, and came to this district with his parents about 50 years ago. settling on the property known as "Roseneath," near Horse shoe Lagoon.

For a time he was associated with a garage business in the town.

He married Miss Eva F. Bullivant, at Grafton.

Although he had retired from active work about 10 years ago he had been living at Port Macquarie for the last four years. Apart from that period he had spent all his time on the property at Horseshoe Lagoon.

He is survived by his wife and a family of 10 children. Daughters are: Edna (Mrs. E. Phillips), Sydney. Muriel (Mrs. J. Black), Sydney, Elma (Mrs. E. Harcourt), Melbourne, Edie (Mrs. R. Ditton), Casino, Joan; (Mrs. G. Hilder),- Brisbane. Sons are: Ernest, Coffs Harbour: James. Port Kembla: Stanley, Wiangarie; Norman, Casino; Clarence. Wollongong. Mr. Arthur Ellem, of Casino, is a brother and Mrs. H. Bailey, of Murwillumbah, is a sister. There are 24 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral took place from St. Mark's Church of England on Sunday, Rev. Archdeacon O. C. Van officiating.

His five sons and brother were pall-bearers.

Trevor D. Bevan was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
