Biography

David Bell was born in Ireland.

David was born about 1846. ^[1] He was the son of John Bell, a farmer of Dunmore, County Tyrone.^[2]

On 30 Aug 1873 at Cookstown Presbyterian, he married Esther Mitchell, daughter of John Mitchell of Dunmore. ^[2]

He would have been the holder of lot 38 (from Robert Bell jun. c. 1887) and 39 (from Samuel Douglas c. 1876) at Dunmore. ^[3]

He passed away 28 Mar 1918 at his late residence (Lissan post office?) He was interred at the family burying ground at Claggan. ^{[4] [5]} The chief mourners were:

• Thomas, Robert, William and James Bell (sons)
• David Mitchell, James Bell (brothers-in-law)
• Fred Bell, Robert Bell, Samuel Mitchell, George E Mitchell (nephews)

Research Notes

No death record found in the civil registration.

There was another David Bell (bef.1845-) of Dunmore - no trace found of what happened to that David and his wife. There's also David Bell (abt.1844-abt.1932) of Ballynagilly; and one more David of Ballynagilly in the census (age 80 widower as of 1911)

The death of Robert Bell (1795-1888) was informed by "David Bell, Nephew". (But not necessarily this one!)

It is not clear how he is related to Sarah Jane Wylie, niece seen in the 1901 census.
