Daughters of the American Revolution
Archibald Allen Sr. is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A001372.

According to the Daughters of the American Revolution Genealogical Research System, Archibald Allen was born in 1751.[1] Other sources, such as findagrave, claim his birth in 1752.[2] He was the son of Archibald Allen and Abigail Rhodes of Warsaw, Westmoreland County, Virginia.

Archibald Allen provided military service during the American Revolutionary War.[3] His pension request, R102V, was rejected due to a problem with the length of his service being under six months.[4] However, his service as a private in good standing under Captain Charles Shelton and Colonel Elias Edmond in Fauquier County, Virginia has been verified by the Daughters of the American Revolution.[5]

Archibald Allen was married twice. His first wife is thought to be Martha Hatfield.[6] Unfortunately, her name remains unproven at this time.

After the Revolutionary War, Archibald Allen moved west to Kentucky. He was married to his second wife, Ann McClehore, in Nelson County, Kentucky, on February 4, 1788.[7] Some sources call her Ann McClehose or McElhane.[8] Washington and Hardin Counties in Kentucky appear to have been formed from Nelson County.[9]

Archibald Allen received a Land Grant for 171 acres in Washington County, Kentucky in 1793.[10]

Archibald Allen appears on a Tax List at Hardin County, Kentucky in 1800. In 1809, Archibald Allen was named the father of the bride at his daughter Nancy's wedding.[11] The Archibald Allen family was enumerated in the 1810 Census at Hardin County.[12]

Archibald Allen can be found in Orange County, Indiana at the 1820 Census.[13] It appears that he was a member of the Providence Baptist Church in Orange County, Indiana from 1819 to 1827.

Archibald Allen continued his movement west into Magnolia, Putnam County, Illinois. He passed away there in 1846.[14][15]
