Biography

Metta was born around 1813 most likely in Germany.

Meta was the wife of Frederick Wilhelm Haase.

The couple migrated to New Zealand sometime before 1843.^[1]

Their daughter Anna was born in South Australia, Australia in 1849. ^[2]

Meta had at least three children. The name of the one born in 1853 was not recorded in the birth register.^[3]

Her youngest daughter was born in 1855 and was named Lucy.^[4]

Meta was a widow when she passed away on 13 December 1886 at her daughter Lucy's house at Waimea Street, Nelson aged 73.^[5][6]
