Henry was born 14 April 1833 in Radford, Nottinghamshire, England and baptized 26 May 1833. He is the son of William Wilson and Sarah Morley.

He married Charlotte Cowan on 23 November 1859 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Together they had six children.

He is notable for being a British farmer, industrialist and Liberal Party politician.

He died 29 June 1914 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.
