Biography

WILLIAMS

Lawrence C. Williams, 50, head of the Henderson Drug store 100 East Second street died at 10:15 a.m. today at the Muscatine County hospital, shortly after he had been admitted. He was stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage while at the drug store and was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. He resided on rural route No. 4.

Mr. Williams had been associated with the Henderson Drug store, formerly owned by the late L.R. Henderson, for many years and was active in Masonic organizations, including Electa chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Rhea Williams and his mother.

The body is at the Fairbanks Home for Funerals pending arrangement for rites.

WILLIAMS, CRIGER, ROWLAND

L.C. Williams Services to Be held Thursday Funeral services for Lawrence C. Williams, 50, owner of the Henderson Drug Store, whose death occurred Monday after a brief illness, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Fairbanks Home for Funerals. The Rev. A.D. Steffenson, pastor of the First Methodist church, will be in charge. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery. The body is remaining at the funeral home.

Mr. Williams, who resided on rural route No. 4, was born in Illinois on May 8, 1903, the son of Charles and Nannie Williams. He came to Muscatine about 40 years ago and had been associated with the Henderson Drug store since 1926. He was in partnership with the late L.R. Henderson from 1946 until 1953 when he became owner of the store. He married Miss Rhea Criger on Nov. 20, 1929.

Mr. Williams was a member of the First Methodist Church, the Muscatine Rotary club, of Electa chapter No. 32, Order of the Eastern Star, of Rose Croix Shrine, White Shrine of Jerusalem, of El Bey Grotto, the Commandery ad the Order of Amaranth.

Surviving are his wife and mother, Mrs. Charles Williams, a brother Lester Wiliams of Long Beach, Calif., and a half-sister, Salley Rowland of Hannibal, Mo. His father preceded him in death.

Lawrence was born in 1903. He passed away in 1954.
