Edward was born in 1806. He was the son of Simon Wightman and Catherine Allen. He passed away in 1894.
Edward H. Wightman engaged in farming in that part of Bolivar Township which was set off 12 April 1838 together with a part of the town of Friendship to form the present town of Wirt. He was one of the charter members of the Baptist Church organized 27 February 1828 in the neighboring village of Richburg, and was a staunch supporter of the church throughout his life.
