James Wight was born around June 1721 in Midlam, Bowden, Roxburghshire. He was baptised on 2 July 1721 at Bowden. His parents were James Wight (~1685 - >1743) and Margaret (Houd) Wight (~1690 - ).[1]
James married Isobel Wood (~1721 - ) on 26 November 1743 in Maxton, Roxburghshire.[2]
Entry reads: James Wight and Isobel Wood both in this parish were married on November 26th 1743. James Wight in the parish of Bowden, the bridegroom's father, was cautioner for his son; William Thomson in the parish of Maxton for his niece, the bride
My original tree for this family showed James' parents as James Wight and Jennet Sword.
A review of my evidence for this back in 2009 revised my conclusions to the parents shown here instead.
This was primarily because there were two sons James in the family of James & Jennet, the younger of them being too young to have married in 1743.
Some trees copied the original data and is still being perpetuated.Henderson-2297 00:16, 8 March 2019 (UTC)
