Biography

Raymond was born in 1922. He was the son of George Wight and Bertha Young. He passed away in 2001.

Obituary

Wight, N. Ray; Passed peacefully away at home in the presence of his loving wife and family on Saturday, September 29th, 2001, N. Ray Wight in his 79th year. He leaves to mourn Lillian (nee Eason), his loving wife of 52 years; his daughter Marilyn Andrews and her husband Lewis; son Keith and wife Joan (nee Flight) of Montreal; son Lorne and wife Elaine (nee LaFrance) of Edmonton and his youngest son Gerry of Ottawa. Grandpa is also mourned by his eight grandchildren: Brad, Mark and Todd Andrews of St. John's; Kathryn, Julia and Melissa Wight of Montreal and Jennifer and Ryan Wight of Edmonton. Ray is also mourned by his brothers Ralph of Corner Brook; Milton, Ross and Bill of Deer Lake; George of BC and Dave of Edmonton as well as sisters Mildred Barnes and Pearl King of Deer Lake and Lily House of Kitchener. Ray will also be missed by good neighbours Chester MacDonald and Mildred Bailey. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John's with visitations on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. from the Salvation Army Temple, Torbay Road, with interment to follow at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Blackmarsh Road. A gathering will take place at 10:30 a.m. for a 30 minute organ prelude of Ray's favorite classical and religious music prior to funeral service at The Salvation Army Temple. Flowers are gratefully declined but donations may be made to the Retired Teacher's Foundation for handicapped children, c/o 3 Kenmount Road, St. John's, NF A1B 1W1.
