1860 - United States Federal Census - In the 1860 census, H.C. Whittington, 52, is living with his wife, Margaret, 49 in Big Grove Township, Johnson County, Iowa. Also living with them are their children, Benjamin, 25; Ellen, 16; John, 18; Martha, 14; Julia, 12; Emma, 10; Amanda, 8 and Susan, 6. Also living with the family is their daughter, Sarah Whittington Merrill, 23, and her husband, P.M. Merrill, 35.[1]
