Biography

Anne was born in about 1792 in Prestonkirk, Haddingtonshire, Scotland.^[1]

When Anne was about 55 she married James Runciman on 3 April 1847 in Dirleton, East Lothian.^[2]

Anne died at the age of about 59 after 1851 in ?Dirleton, East Lothian. Note: the 1852 Dunbar dth recorded in the OPR is simply recorded as "Ann RUNCIMAN, a pauper", others on the page indicate widow of ..., so inconclusive as to whether or not this Anne, but seems possible.^[3]

In 1882 Anne (age about 90) was employed as a Washer Woman at Lady Hamilton's School, but this may be the other Ann RUNCIMAN at an unknown location.^[4]

Note: NB several trees show Anne as dying Haddington 9 Dec 1882 (or for those misinterpreting US/English mm/dd dd/mm dates 12 Sep 1882). That Ann was nee MORRISON and married to a James RUNCIMAN, tailor.

I (Lorna) also suspect that she is the 1861 washerwoman at Lady amiltons school and the 1871 seamstress listed in Scotland and Beyond
