Biography

CHARLES^ WHEAT (Amos', Salmon, Samuel', Joshua', Moses'), horn Feb. 28, 1802; died Spring of 1862. married Maria (also called Sarah Maria) Carpenter.

1831, they were of New Jersey (?) when he bought land of his sister, Martha and her husband, Joseph Harding; in 1840 from Orange Co. and living in Chenango, Broome Co., N. Y. he bought of William AVerill of Cooperstown, land in the Cooper Patent; 1843, they sell land in Mamakating to Henry Hoag of Silver Lake, Pa. ; 1845, Charles of Chenango sells to William C. Wheat of Wallkill; 1852, they of Silver Lake, Pa. sell to William C. and Nathaniel C. Wheat of Chemung.; 1857, Sarah Wheat of Silver Lake bought land in Binghamton village of Stephen Hoag and wife Mercy of Binghamton; 1861, Sarah Wheat of Branchville, Susquehanna Co., Pa. sold to Albert Hooper of Binghamton.

i JULIA ANN^ born Nov. 16, 1823; married Joshua W. Curtis.

ii WILLIAM CARPENTER^ died Jan. 8, 1866 married Emily Hoyt, died Feb. 11, 1907 64-10 (sic), (1208), daughter of Archibald and Elizabeth (Wheat) Hoyt. Both buried in Howells cemetery, N. Y. 1414 ADDIE ISABELS, married . . .Drake and lived at Kenmore, Erie Co., N.Y.

iii NATHANIEL CARPENTER^ married before 1852, Phebe . . . ; they lived in Storm Lake, or Red Oak, Iowa; he had a pottery. A son and a daughter.

iv ELIZABETH^, married Martin Quick, brother of William Quick of Nicholson, Pa.

V GILBERT BEEBE^ married Ann F. Seffens. 1415 i) MABEL JULIA^, born Sept. 14, 1878; married Jan. 2, 1899 at Virginia City, Mont., Oscar F. Fenton, born there, Aug. 3, 1872.
