Biography
Artemesia (Wheat) Colvard was born in Appalachia, in Alabama.
Artemesia "Artie" Jemison Wheat was born September 21, 1851 to Moses Wheat and Cilicia Carlton in La Place, Alabama.
She married John Sims Colvard on December 4, 1872 in Macon County, Alabama.[1] Their children were:
- Lela A. Colvard
- Eugenia M. Colvard
- Moses Wheat Colvard
- Martha Cilicia Colvard
- Annie Lee Colvard
- Jessie Carleton Colvard
- Meta Belle Colvard[2]
- Ethel Colvard
She died, at the age of 86, on August 10, 1938 in Montgomery, Alabama. She is buried at the Forest Hill Cemetery, Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama.[3]
