Biography

George was born about 1515. He passed away about 1587. On ancesty, George is rumoured to be a descendant of Viking"Wild Boar". I would be interested if anyone can shed any light on this rumor.

Notes on looking for sources ... George is on more than 200 Ancestry trees with these birth and death dates, but the sources given there are for a person over 200 years later - marriage to Frances Bullock as given in the data above, 10 November 1778 at Sherburn near Scarborough,^[1] baptism for son William as given below, 10 December 1780, William son of George and Frances Welborn of Sherburn (near Scarborough, North Riding of Yorkshire).^[2]

William Wellborn, son of George and Frances, died 29 January 1801 and has a Find a Grave entry with a photo of the gravestone, "In Memory of William, Son of George and Francis Wellborn, who died January 29 1801 Aged 20 years". However, Find a grave does not give the death year, and this photo has been attached to Ancestry trees with a death date of 29 January 1554.^[3][4] Photos of Sherburn gravestones at https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/ERY/Sherburn/Graveyard

George's date of death is given as 27 August 1587 in most trees but no place or source given. All his life events (and son William's) are before the beginning of Sherburn parish records in 1653. Son William is said to be born and died in Lincolnshire, so perhaps George was too.
