In the 1870 Federal Census of Montgomery County, Maryland there is only one George Weems listed. He is enumerated as a black male, 30 years old, born in Maryland. He was a farm laborer, and could not read or write. He is the head of a household with his wife Elizabeth Weems, age 26, and his daughter Rosa J. Weems, age 4.[2]
In the 1880 census George (age 41) was the married head of household in Clarksburg, Montgomery, Maryland, United States.[3] He is enumerated with his wife Elizabeth, age 35, and the following children:
Rosa J. Wims, age 13, born about 1867. She attended school within the census year.
