William Creighton Watson was born about 1840 in Pennsylvania. He was the son of Nicholas Watson and Hannah (Creighton) Watson.
At the time of the 1850 Census, his family was living in North Beaver Township, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. His father worked there as a farmer.[1]
At the time of the 1860 Census, they were living in Franklin Township, Richland County, Ohio. His father continued to work as a farmer. He was working as a carpenter.[2]
He joined the 21st Ohio Infantry Regiment (3 months) on 20 Apr 1861. He was assigned to Company F as a Private. He mustered out with his company on 12 Aug 1861 in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio.[3][4]

At the time of the 1880 Census, they were living in Florence Township, Williams County, Ohio. He was working there as a farmer.[9]
At the time of the 1890 Veteran's Census, he was still living in Williams County.[4] He applied for and received an invalid's pension based on his military service on 07 Jul 1890.[10][11]
At the time of the 1900 Census, he was living in Montpelier, Superior Township, Williams County, Ohio. He was working as a carpenter.[12]
At the time of the 1910 Census, he was still living in Montpelier. He was no longer working.[13]
He passed away on 03 Mar 1918 in Williams County, Ohio, due to myocarditis.[14][15] He was buried at Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier, Williams County, Ohio.[16]
