William was born in 1857. William Ward ... He passed away in 1924. ^[1]

"Roy Ward, my Grandpa, told me that he was driving the truck down a hill at a good clip. His father, William, was seated to his right. The battery, which was locted under the passenger side of the seat, caught fire. William panicked and must have missed the running board as he jumped out because he fell under the wheel and was crushed to death. Roy lifted his father's body and put it on the bed of the truck and drove on into town." Remembered by Larry S. McKaughan July 19, 2010.

"Mr. Ward was an accomodating man, a hard worker, and won the respect of all who had dealing with him." Casa Grande Valley Dispatch, Oct. 18, 1924.

One of his daughters is listed as Mrs. J.L. (Mary) Ballard, of Selma, California when she returns to the city for his funeral and Mrs. Minnie Tatlow. See the Dispatch obit.
