Jesse was born in 1860 in Wilnecote, Warwickshire, England. He was the son of Thomas Twamley and Sarah (Brain) Twamley.[1][2][3]Note: The usual spelling of his surname was Twamley but most records for Jesse use the spelling Twombley.
In the 1861 census Jesse (age about 1) was living in Wilnecote, Warwickshire, England. Relationship: Son.[3]
In the 1871 census Jesse (age about 11) was living in Glascote, Staffordshire, England. Relation to Head: Son.[4]
In the 1881 census Jesse (age about 21) was living in Wilnecote, Warwickshire, England in the household of his aunt Elizabeth Bath and her family. Relationship to Head: Nephew.[5]
In the 1891 census Jesse (recorded as age 30) was living at 2 Browns Row, Wilnecote, Warwickshire, England in the household of Jane Ward with his future wife Eliza Ward.[6]
Jesse Twombley and Eliza Ward married in July 1891 in Tamworth, Staffordshire.[7] They had two children but one died as an infant.
In the 1901 census Jesse (age about 41) was living in Measham, Leicestershire, England with his wife Eliza Twombley (37) and daughter Nellie M Twombley (7).[8]
In the 1911 census Jesse (age about 51) was living in Measham, Leicestershire, England with his wife Eliza Twombley (47) and daughter Nellie May Twombley (17).[9]
In the 1921 census Jesse (age about 61) was living at Kings Norton, Worcestershire, England with his wife Eliza Twombley (57).[10]
Jesse died on 29 October 1921 at Kings Norton, Worcestershire. He was buried on 2 Nov 1921 at Wilnecote Old Cemetery, Wilnecote, Warwickshire.[11][12][13] His gravestone says:
Jesse Twombley
Beloved husband of Eliza
Died 29 October 1921
Aged 61 years
Note: His wife was buried in the same grave in 1943 but her dates were not added to the headstone.
