Biography

Andrew Turnbull was born circa 1844, he was 28 when he married Annie Maria Margaret Goldney in 1872. He is the son of James Turnbull. They were married at St Luke Church in Adelaide on 27 May 1872^[1].

They lived in Cleve and Andrew was active in the community being a justice of the peace, Chairman of the District Council, Vermin board and board of advice^[2]. He died of a heart attack on 14 August 1905 in Cleve^[3] and is buried in the Cleve Cemetery^[4].

   Our Cowell correspondent telegraphs:— "The community received a shock to-day at the announcement of the sudden death from heart failure on Sunday night of Mr. Andrew Turnbull, aged 65. He had been attending the district council and other meetings at Cowell, and left for his home at Cleve only on Sunday morning in the best of spirits. He had been unwell lately. The deceased gentleman took a great interest in public matters. He was justice of the peace, Chairman of the district council, Vermin Board, and Board of Advice. He has left a widow and family."
