Birth
James was born in 1870 in Hanborough, Oxfordshire[1]. He was the son of Luke Turfrey and Jane Walker. His baptism took place in Hanborough on 6th February 1870[2]. His father stated on the register that he was a labourer and that the family were living in Hanborough at the time.

Death
James died when he was just 2 years old in 1872[4]. He was buried in Hanborough on 28th June, just one day after his sister Sophia and one day before his sister Mary was buried.[5].
