Birth

Amos was born on 9th February 1865 in Hanborough, Oxfordshire.^[1] He was the son of John Turfrey and Fanny Berry. His baptism took place at St Peter and St Paul, Hanborough on 12th March 1865.^[2] His father stated on the baptism that he was a labourer.

Marriage

Amos William Turfrey and Julia Ann Enser were married after banns at St Barnabas, Oxford, Oxfordshire on 28th July 1889^[3]. They were bachelor and spinster and both 24 years old. Amos was a postman living in Oxford Street, Woodstock and the son of John Turfrey who was a carter. Julia was living at 7 Cranham Terrace and the daughter of Thomas Enser who was a farmer. The witnesses to the marriage were James Enser and Elizabeth Enser.^[4]

Death

Amos died in Steeple Aston, Oxfordshire in 1950. He was buried in Kirtlington, Oxfordshire on 1st May 1950.^[12] The burial register gave his residence as Rousham Park, Steeple Aston and stated that he was 85 years old.
