On the 25th of November 1940 Pilot Officer John McClintoff was piloting a Miles M.14 Magister 2 seater traing airctaft together with Pilot Officer Anthony John Jameson Truran when that aircraft suffered a catastrophic wing failure, about 200 ft., off the ground. Both men were killed instantly. Both men were aged 20 and their remains were buried at St. John's Crematorium, Woking, Surrey , England
