Biography

Richard Tibbitts was born in 1854 in Coventry, Warwickshire, England, he was the son of John Tibbitts and Eliza J. (Frogget) Tibbitts.

He was listed on two voyages to Queensland. 1863 on board the "Flying Cloud" and in 1869 aboard the "Royal Dane".

Richard married Mary Sellar Stapleton on the 16th of May 1874 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. [1]Their children were:

Mary Ann Tibbits (1879 - 1905)
Ellen (Tibbits) Hicks (1881 - 1968)

Grace (Tibbits) Cross (1888 - 1949).

Richard died on the 11th of June 1932 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.[2]

The family immigrated (2nd time) on the "Royal Dane" arriving on the 25 September 1869 to Queensland, Australia.

Note: it is a speculation he and his family made second time to get land orders? It is hard to wonder why the family would come by sea from England to Australia, then go back to England to come out to Australia again. This family seems to have done just that.
