Note: Woodstock was part of Suffolk County, Massachusetts, until 1731 when it became part of Worcester County, Massachusetts. In 1749, Woodstock became a town in Windham County, Connecticut.
Amos,[1] son of John Throop and Rebecca Smith, was born on 28 Mar 1702 at Bristol, Plymouth County, MA (now RI),[2] and died on 10 Sep 1735 at Woodstock, Windham County, CT.[1][3][4]
He married Frances Davis, daughter of Simon Davis and Ann Low, on 7 Jan 1724/5;[5] children (b. Woodstock; surname Throop):[6][7]
Nathaniel- (b. 2 May 1735; d. 7 May 1736, age abt 12m
Amos - b. 30 Apr 1736, posthumous; m. Mary Bannon Crawford; no children
Probate
Amos Throop of Woodstock died intestate and on 23 December 1735 in Worcester, his widow Frances was granted the administration of his estate.[8]
His inventory was completed on 27 March 1736 in Woodstock.[9]
In 1738, an account of his estate by his widow Frances and her husband, Pennuell Bowen was recorded which included cash received, provisions for the family, debts paid, doctor, charges for bringing up the children, lying in with a posthumous child, charges of Nathaniel's sickness, and funeral charges, and administration fees.[10]
In 1749, a further account of his estate by Penuel Bowen and Frances his wife was recorded which included the balance from the previous account, debts paid, and administration fees.[12]
