Biography
Lillie was born in 1863. She was the daughter of Rudolph Thoman and Catharine Becker. She passed away in 1951.

Lillie was deaf, but amazingly for a PA-German girl from York County, received her education at the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf in the 1880s. She and her husband Charles, who was also deaf, lived in Gettysburg, Adams County, PA most of their adult lives. They had no children.

Charles and Lillie were eveidently both deaf. In 1870 Charles was in a school for the deaf in Frederick, MD and in 1880 Lillie was in the Philadelpha School for the deaf. Charles worked as a shoemaker in Gettysburg for more than 40 years.
After the 1940 US Census
At some point after the 1940 Census Both Lillie and her husband were living in Philadelphia at "The Home for the Aged and Infirmed Deaf". Both died in the early 1950's.
Notes
In the 1870 US Census the name is Lydia. The year for dob is abt 1864. I can find no other documentation for a Lydia and Lillie was born in Sep 1863. Lillie is not on an 1880 US Census I can find to see if she was listed as living at a school for the deaf in Philadelphia. In the 1900 US Census her mother is listed as having had 7 children with 5 still living in 1900. If that is accurate then Lydia has to be Lillie. The only other option I can think of is that Lydia was born and died before the 1900 US Census but then the mother would have had 8 children with 5 still living.
