Born and have lived in Indiana my whole life. Surnames I'm interested in and have found in my searchings so far include: Terry Mathews Noble Emmons Williams Dudgeon Mortenson Hickman Abbott West Boxell Freese Overmeyer Gravitt Bunker Thompson Carpenter Rich Scott Shuman Minnick Hyatt Rally Weir Miller
There are more, but this is just to my 3rd great grandparents and figure that's more than enough to start! Will probably flesh this out and edit more later.
As far as places, to my knowledge, I have some family from Norway, but I've been surprised at how long most of my family has been in the US -- ranging from Virginia to Ohio, some North Carolina and it seems? West Virginia, quite a bit in Kentucky/Ohio/Indiana, but also some that has gone west to Iowa.

If you're looking for Terry connections in Indiana, I have a contact who has done a lot of work on the Indiana Terrys. Her line is from Orren Terry, son of Samuel Terry, and grandson of John Terry (III) and Martha Gridley Terry of Simsbury, Connecticut. Orren died in 1851, and is buried in Lafayette, Tippecanoe County, IN.

If you are one of Orren's descendants you are also my cousin. If that turns out to be true, then we have a lot of family history to fill you in on.
Welcome aboard.

Best I can tell the Terry's in my family have gone Virginia --> Ohio --> Indiana. Using the formatting from your comment, my equivalent would be George William Terry, son of George Washington Terry and Amy Ann Gravitt, and grandson of William Thomas Terry and Susannah B. Burr (? -- still trying to verify this one I think...). George William died in 1958 and is buried in Lewisville, Wayne Co., Indiana.
Orren Terry's Wikitree record is here:

As you can see he has a lot of descendants, some of whom still live in Tippecanoe County.
Thank you for signing the WikiTree Honor Code! We're happy to have you as a new Wiki Genealogist. Make sure to check out the Intro to WikiTree page to learn how to get involved: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:How_to_Use_WikiTree
You mentioned that you don’t know much about your family tree yet. I assume you are new to genealogy. No problem! Every genealogist is a beginner at some point. Take your time, keep track of sources, and ask questions. Check here for tips.

I wasn't sure how 'beginner' was defined here - I've done some searching on ancestry at different points (this is probably a common entry point?) and gone back several generations, reached dead ends, left it, returned and fleshed out more of the tree through siblings and local records I've found access to.
I really appreciate the importance of sources here and hope to keep meandering around/learning!
