Henry was born in Quebec (then called Lower Canada) in 1837. He was married to Clemense Millier. According to his obituary, he came to the United States in about 1868 and lived in Reno, Nevada, California, and Idaho before settling in Montana.
In 1870, Henry appears on the census in Indian Township, Plumas County, California under the name Henry Teraux. He worked as a Road Builder and resided with his wife, Clementina, and son Henry (2).
Henry became a naturalized citizen of the United States in August of 1875 and registered to vote later that year in Plumas County. He appeared on voter registration records for Plumas County through 1879; in 1880 he registered to vote in Modoc County.
On the 1880 Census, Henry lived in Cedarville, Modoc County, California with his wife Clemens and son Henry.
When the census was taken in June of 1900, he was living in Washington County, Idaho. He worked as a Carpenter, was widowed, and lived adjacent to his son Frem Henry Terou and family. Soon afterward, he and his son moved to Ravalli County, Montana where Henry died in 1908.
Henry's Death Certificate indicates he was born in Quebec, but many other sources state he was born in France. No official record of his birth has yet been located.
