Biography

I was born and raised in St. Vital a suburb of Winnipeg. I attended Varennes Elementary school for grades 1 through 9 and then attended Glenlawn Collegiate Institute for grades 10 through 12. On graduation in 1968, I joined the Canadian Forces. I completed basic training at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Cornwallis near Digby Nova Scotia. On completion of that, I went to CFB Halifax for training, Training continued at CFB Comox, CFB Kingston, CFB Clinton and then I was posted to long-range radar bases at CFS Holberg, BC, CFS Mont Apica PQ, where I met my wife and married in 1972. We went to CFS Beausejour, MB, CFS Gypsumville MB, then onto 43 Rdr Sqn at CFB Penhold Alberta. Then we moved to CFB Calgary AB where I served in 1 Service Battalion. In 1987 we moved to Lahr West Germany where I worked building and then serving in the 4 Air Defence Regiment. In 1992 we returned to Canada and Manitoba where I worked in Air Command HQ until posted to National Defence HQ in 1997. In 1999 I returned to Winnipeg to 1 Canadian Air Division and worked there until my retirement from the Forces in 2010 as the SME for Long Range Radar Systems. My wife Leslie and I had two children both girls Kathleen (Kayti) in 1974 at Beausejour and Jaime in 1977 in Ashern both in MB. We now have 5 grand children and are happily retired. I love golf, hunting, archery, fishing, shooting, and the outdoors. We have 2 Westies which are a huge part of our life.
