Johan (John) was born in 1817. John Skennar was the son of Fredrick Talén and Karolina Hernberg In 1852 he married Mary Ann Wheeler. He passed away in 1895.

1 Johan Fredrik "Skennar" Talén. Born 6/24/1817 in Stockholms domkyrkoförsamling (AB).1 Married 10/19/1841 in Altuna (C) with Christina Thalén b. Billmark.2 Married 1/24/1852 with Mary Ann Wheeler. Died 7/2/1895 in Tintenbar, Australia. Person notes: Born in Stockholm 24 June 1817 and baptized as Johan Fredrik Talén. Lost his father, watchmaker factory owner Carl Adolph Talén, at 5 years of age. His mother remarried to watch factory owner Carl Lundin. From at least 1839 is he living at his maternal grandfathers household in Åloppe, Nysätra parish in province Uppland. He is then listed to be a bookkeeper. In 1841 he gets married to Christina Billmark in Altuna parish. He is then listed to be "possessionaten" witch is translated to owner of a large estate. At marriage he adopted her son Anders Petter that was born July 31st 1840. He have two children together with Christina Billmark, daughter Fredrika Christina Serena and son Oskar Fredrik Talén. Last time he is listed in church records is in birth book as father to son Oscar Fredrik Talén January 24th 1844. After that is he not found in church records and his wife and children are listed alone. In later household records is Christinas husband listed to have "run away". Johan Fredrik Talén turned up in Australia with surname Skennar. Why did he run away from his family? Johan Fredrik was of a good family and probably does it have with bad economy to do. His stepfather had run away and when his maternal grandfather died 1840 was that security gone. His mother died in February 1844, did she have any money left? The answer could be in the estate inventories that were made after a persons death.
Frederick Skennar is one of his sons, not father (see Skennar-21)
