Isobel Tait, daughter of James Tait and Isobel Mickeljohn, was born about 1822 and baptised in Watten, Caithness, on 20 October 1822.[1] Her parents were residing at Strath, in the parish of Watten, at the time of her baptism.[2]
In 1841 Isobel was living with her mother Isabel and siblings Donald, Margaret, Catherine, Janet and John in Wathegar, in the parish of Wick, Caithness. Her trade was "Ag Lab".[3]
