William was born about 1645. Another William Stone was born about that same year, his wife was Mary and they had at least one child christened in St Peter's Parish, New Kent, Virginia.
It should be noted that other researchers have found additional men named William Stone, some in the region. Presently, on FamilySearch, one contributor unequivocally states: Only proven children are William, Ashwell, Elizabeth & Mary per Historical Southern Families, Volume VI. However, as the research has been compiled, as will become apparent, the will of the present William Stone, and that of his wife, Sarah, tell a different story. Thus, a word of caution that descendants in particular can be helpful in determining whether the correct line has been identified, but also note that with common names such as William and Sarah, even that is not enough to make a definitive statement without corroborating evidence (such as known and sourced/proven children and location).
Our William Stone married Sarah.[1][2]
Among their children were:
He died in 1707, with a Farnham Parish, Richmond County, Virginia will date of 31 Jan 1797, which named his wife, Sarah, and the above-noted children.[1]
He was married to Sarah HOWARD. 775. Sarah HOWARD was born in 1645. She signed a will on 2 Jul 1711 in Richmond Co., VA. She died in 1717. Sarah STONE, wid. and relict of William STONE, of Rich. Right now, they are clear duplicates, but for the parents. [Just noticed that I incorrectly associated Mary (Stone) Fann as the wife of Robert Schofield. Will fix that next.]
No sources are cited on this William Stone's profile that name or associate him with the attached parents; also of note: the same is true for the other William Stone who is also married to the same Sarah (Unknown) and has the matching profile narrative.
Unless anyone can come up with proof of parents, the most judicious action would be to detach both of these William Stones from their parents, unless, as I said before, this present William Stone can be distinguished from the William Stone who married Sarah (Unknown); OR, unless we can find some proof of his origins.
After review of the present William Stone's parents, a few notes:
Thank you for your time. I hope that we can get some resolution on this soon.
