I do remember hearing Squadrons leave for bombing raids on German targets in the evening and saw the bombers return some limping back to base.
Primary school started at age four and a half so there I was being walked to my first day of school at Hope Park Primary in September 0f 1945. Since the Start of WWII, The annual Lama's Market had been suspended for the duration. In August of 1945 it resumed. other memories of that year Dad was home from the Air Force. our relatives visited for their summer trades holidays.

Child hood in St Andrews was Idyllic, long sandy beaches Golf courses closed on Sundays to golfers but what a walk from 8 college street to the River Eden and back home. Life was getting back to normal food stamps were still in use and rationing was strict we could not "get a wee bit extra".
Dad's Employer John Menzies & Co offered housing with his position as an area Manager. We moved to Dundee then Perth.
I left School at fifteen in 1957. Dad and I had a meeting with Rockwell JS head master. Who tried to convince me to continue my education at the Harris Academy, I had done well on final exams.
Life's Journey began to work I went. firstly in a clothing retail store in Dundee, secondly I took a trade. Automotive Re finisher. Looking for more experience I joined the mobile Union work force, my travels began North to South in the United Kingdom. Returning home several times as a prodigal always well received, What next? Re: Holtsbaum
I have come across some information on two of the Holtsbaum girls, Ellen and Charlotte. I thought you might be interested. It lists their spouse and their family.
Ellen : https://winters-online.net/sharon-haggerty-db/g1/p794.htm#i19837
Charlotte: https://winters-online.net/sharon-haggerty-db/g1/p618.htm#i15436
I have taken on adding to Jasper Holtsbaum's profile because, co-incidentally, I added his son to a website just the day before. I do not adopt them because I have adopted enough files. I do enjoy trying to add to files that need adoption.
