My wife is the descendant of Eva Simpson, Homer Simpson's sister, and her grandmother actually owned a copy of the Roberson book about his story, Pattie Crittenden Naples, who is Crittenden-1847.

I sent you a PM via email explaining her connections.

Wow thank you. Always great to meet a new cousin.

I'll tell my wife that! She will appreciate it very much.

When her second great grandfather John Holland Crittenden left his young children in the care of Jake and Julia Simpson for whatever reason to move to Alabama, her great grandfather Lester ended up staying with Reverend Washington Simpson instead of the his grandparents. He decided to leave the area for Youngstown and the steel mills for an opportunity for a fresh start I guess. Jake's daughters (Lester's aunts) Toy Simpson who married an Arthur Queen and Beulah Simpson both left for Youngstown as well, so it wasn't just him alone here.

I never would have found out any of this without the Roberson book talking about Homer and his parents and grandparents for both Simpson and Maddox lines. As I uncover more I'll probably be adding backwards and I very much suspect that the Maddox line is Mattox because there are two distinct lines where one is Mattox and the other Maddox so that's where I'll be looking!

Hi, Dennis.

You contacted me about James Kelley, my fifth-great-grandfather. Please feel free to improve his profile. This is not a profile I have spent much time on.

Give me a shout if I can help with the mechanics of Wikitree, or if I can help in any other way.

Regards,

Susan

Hello Dennis,

First let me thank you very much for correcting the mistake I made on your Alonzo DeBord. Please except my apology also. You were right. They are two different people. I should have checked it out farther. I also hope the corrections that you had to make we're not too much trouble for you. Again, thank you for calling this to my attention.

Regards, Linda

Hi Dennis,

I responded via private messaging to your first message regarding Aaron Stinson [Stinson-912], then I received another message from you asking the same question again. What's up with that? Anyway, Stinson-912 is an open profile and since you are a Honor Code member of Wikitree, you do not need my permission to improve the profile. Have at it!

Thank you on Stinson. Sorry I been having trouble for some unknown reason getting my messages through via the Wikitree private message system.

Thanks Dennis, for you comment about Penelope Massie, nee Ashley-Cooper. I did undertake extensive research into the claim that she was Anthony Ashley Cooper's daughter a few years ago, but found nothing at all to indicate this was correct.

However I am very willing to have an open mind if you have new evidence that should be considered. Perhaps the best option would be to start a G2G and present your evidence there, and it can be assessed by a number of interested people.

Thanks John

Hi Dennis!

Welcome, and thanks for joining the Magna Carta project as an affiliate.

Project profiles are watched over through the project's "Profile Alerts" Google Group - https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/wikitreemagnacarta - which is tied to WikiTree-36, the project account. Project affiliates are encouraged to join the Google Group - from that page, send a request to join with your WikiTree ID (so we know who it is).

Give me or David a holler if you have any questions, or you can post in G2G (Magna_Carta) or to the Google Group.

Cheers, Liz ~ co-leader, Magna Carta Project

Thanks Dennis for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz

As pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential. To learn more about joining the community in How To #3 & in the Project FAQ.

Please ensure location data matches date of profile, avoid abbreviations add citations & links for sources to enable verification. From wiki ID go to Research to find sources

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one to fit your research focus, a time period, location. Read the goals & tasks of the project, join if it fits.

Any questions, please ask

Dennis, the Southern Pioneers Project managed Edward Stewart’s Profile because we added it and didn’t want to leave it without a profile manager. I have removed the project since you can manage it. Just click the yellow space to adopt the profile.

Hi!

Just checking in with a few quick tips:

Looking to make more connections or find more information about an ancestor but not sure how to do that? Try categorizing your profiles.

Not sure what to put into a biography? Here are some Bio Ideas. Also, make sure that the biographies match WikiTree’s Styles and Standards.

If you come across an unresponsive manager, we have a process for those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, please ask!!

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add Profiles to WikiTree - if you have pre-1700's ancestors to add please read our Pre-1700 profiles info.

If you need any help getting started check out the help section from the menu, top right, or head over to the G2G forum and take a minute to introduce yourself in the Tree House. You might also want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.

We also have Mentors to help too.

Welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll see a Volunteer option on your profile page. Click that and leave us a short message about your genealogical interests. A Greeters Project volunteer will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way! Welcome to the family! We’re really glad you’re here.
