Biography

Kate was born in 1883. Her birth record shows Catharine, a marriage record shows Kathryn, a census has Catherine, another census has Kate, and FindAGrave has Katharine.

Kathryn E. Stevenson married William R. Banks in 1908. The scanned document is labeled Orphan's court and record 233561 is referenced.^[1] They were living with his mother at the time of the 1910 census.^[2]

By 1920 she (Catherine Banks) is back with her mother and brother, listed as married, but with no husband or child present.^[3]

Kathryn Banks, daughter of Charles (no last name shown) & Emma Sharpless, married Albert M Vaughn on 17 September 1923 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. Albert's parents were James (no last name shown) and Agnes Armdt. It was his first marriage and Kathryn's first ended in divorce with dates Jun 1913 and 17 Jun 1918 mentioned.^[4]

Katharine (age 40) married Albert M Vaughn on 17 September 1923 in Philadelphia.^[5] Other records show Albert M. Vaughn marrying a female only identified as Banks in 1923. A film number 004141837 is referenced, but not linked.^[6]

They appear together in the 1930^[7] and 1940 census records. ^[8]

Kate died in 1945. ^{[9] [10]}

Research Notes

Her first husband, William R. Banks, is easily confused with another. The 1900 census shows.

1. Wm R. Banks, 19, born Jul 1881 in Pennsylvania. Living in Philadelphia with widowed mother Mary H. E. Banks (50, Pennsylvania) and sister Jane C. (17, Pennsylvania).
2. William R. Banks, 17, born Sep 1882 in Pennsylvania. Living in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania with parents Clark W. Banks (41, Pennsylvania) and Ida M. (41, Pennsylvania).

The first was Kate's husband, because they were living with Mary and Jane Banks in 1910. The second married Edna S. Schock.
