Biography

George, son of Thomas Stevenson and Mary Ann, was baptised the 29th Apr 1838 in Croydon, Surrey^[1]. In 1851, aged 13 he was living in Rush Grove, Woolwich with his mother (by then a window) and 3 of his 5 (known) siblings.

He married, with Emma Wisdom, when he was 20 (06 Oct 1858) in Plumstead. But later he was living again, with his wife and children, in Woolwich: at Woolwich Dock Yard (1871), at Lower Market Street (1881, 1891) and at St Mary Street (1901).

They had at least 8 children (6 sons and 2 daughters), remaining married until 1890, when Emma died.

He was a TinMan (1858, 1871, 1881) or Tin Smith (1891), already retired in (1901). He died at 64, in the 3rd trimester 1902.
