Canada Flag
Jim Steven was born in British Columbia, Canada.

Jim was born in Vancouver, B.C. on September 17, 1925, the only child ofJames Steven (Killin, Scotland) and Gert Dougherty (Cache Creek, B.C.). Jim's father was a civil engineer and travelled a lot, so before the age of 20, Jim had lived in Vancouver, Clinton, Merritt, Yale, Boston Bar, Lillooet, Kamloops, Blue River, Canim Lake, Chase, Monte Creek, and Grey Creek.

At 18 years of age, Jim was conscripted to join the navy and for the next two years served on nine different H.M.C.S. ships. Throughout the years, Jim had often worked for his father on various survey crews, so it was an easy transition for him to work for the Department of Highways.

Jim met the love of his life, Donnalene (Dene) Sackett, at Qualicum Beach and married her on September 5, 1951. The couple moved around the province while they raised their family following Jim's transfers with the Department of Highways. Jim's last assignment before retirement was District Highways Manager in Vernon, B.C.

Jim and Dene were very involved in Christian ministry and service for over 50 years. Jim was well known for his crazy sense of humor, silly antics and songs, and great adventures.[1]
