Descendant of John Ganzer Spires and Col John Pitts.

Charlie was born in 1921, the 2nd of 3 children to C Morris Spires Sr and Nannie Howell. His siblings were: Cassie Mae and Edward; his half-siblings were: Mary Lee, Massie, Myrtle, Morris Jr, Annie Myrle, and Lawrence.
