I noticed a message from you on Marc Reeves profile in regards to Southerland surname. I was wondering what your dna line is to Marc Reeves? He shares my Reeves line with me. Awhile back I had talked to the project manager of the Southerland group trying to figure out my line and how I am related to the project manager as I dna matched him.
I wrote to Marc: "Meredith and Thomas Southerland/Sutherland. I've been attempting to track Thomas's father Philip for decades now. " additional info: My little family group matches an Asneath Southerland that Marc says descends from Thomas Southerland md Isabell Rutledge. I believe I match Marc on both the Southerland and Rutledge lines as my Lucy Southerland seems to have married Benjamin Rutledge, part of the family of William Rutledge and Matilda King of Stokes County, North Carolina. Isabell's place in that family is unknown, but she married Thomas Southerland in 1800. From their children's births, it appears Thomas and Isabell may have joined his family in South Carolina, before moving on into Middle and West Tennessee, where members of Isabell's Rutledge family had moved. There were several Southerlands in Stokes County, NC, but the closeness of our relationships with Thomas' descendants suggest he was a brother to Charley, Philip Jr. and Lucy, all children of Philip Southerland md Sarah (perhaps Vest).
The parentage of Philip Sr. is unknown, but a descendant's yDNA matches with about 13 other Sutherlands (of various spellings) who appear to descend from George Southerland, who arrived in Virginia in 1675 and died about 1699, leaving 3 minor sons.

It is strongly recommended by many volunteers here that you get to know Wikitree by adding a number of profiles manually. And many of us equally recommend against gedcom uploads because of the time it takes afterwards to clean up the resulting profiles. What many of us do is focus on our immediate and direct line ancestors first.
Welcome to WikiTree! The email we just sent has helpful links to get you started.
WikiTree is different than other genealogy websites because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we share ancestors and work together as a BIG collaborative team!
Youve confirmed your e-mail address, so you'll see a form on your Navigation Home Page that invites you to volunteer to become a full member and to help document our collective family history. Use the Tags and comments to tell us about your genealogical interests.
When you volunteer, one of our Greeters will confirm your membership. Then you'll be able to add your family to the tree!
