It appears that you are having some problems using WikiTree. You have created a lot of duplicates, and remember, WikiTree is a shared family tree. I apologize for all the merge requests, a mentor will be in touch with you to help you through the merges.
You can't remove a match/merge request without any explanation. You can't remove connections without some attempt at agreement. And you cannot deface a profile because you want to get rid of its' connection to a profile you manage.
You wrote -- Virginia Cribs was NOT the daughter of R. Presack. She was the dau of his widow, Irene Lawson who married a Cribbs shortly after R. Presack died.
That should be explained in text and her connection should be as adopted or anything other than biological. In either case it doesn't make sense to have someone connected as father in such case. You need to add whatever sources and explanations you can.
Maureen, I have asked you to read through what I have posted on the profile in question but your messages indicate that you have not done so. Please review the notes directly on the profile for Archie C. Smith. I think if you read through to my conclusion (and proposal) you will see a simple solution. I proposed that they are likely the very same man, and not a brother as I supposed when I first saw the different name. All data pertaining to Cameron Albert Smith matches "Archie C Smith" ... parents, dates and location.
Hello Maureen, I think I found the profile you were referring to. You made it somewhat more difficult by eliminating all salient data in the profile such as their name, and date of birth which were part of the record that prompted the creation of that profile. Yo may be correct that I connected that profile with the incorrect family. I don't take that as a certainty, but as part of the courtesy of collaboration. If it turns out as you say, it is a simple matter to detach any particular connection between profiles, but we should not eliminate information that is part of the record. That is, this person actually existed and there is a record for them and it will be easier to figure this out only if we dont obscure those details.
As to whether the birth dates in question make his being related impossible -- that is not as clear cut as you suggest. Records in this period and earlier are often delayed birth records or have irregular reporting. I have seen it many times. In any case we can detach formal connection of the particular record but only if we make some annotations on each that it is possible - or why it is not possible -- each side of the argument from evidence, in the spirit of collaboration and wikitree.
