Biography

^[1]Robert A. Smith, 53 years old of Hackettstown, died early yesterday morning in the Hackettstown American Legion Ambulance while in route to Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg. Mrs. Smith accompanied her husband, who died before the institution was reached. Smith was a native and lifelong resident of Hackettstown, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Woodhull Smith. He was last employed for several months at the plant of the Essex Specialty Co. in Hackettstown. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Laura H. Smith; four children, Jane, Muriel, Robert and Charles, all at home; these brothers and sisters; David Smith, Mrs. William Willever, and Mrs. Lillian Search all of Hackettstown; Joseph Smith, and Mrs. Elizabeth Beisel of Allentown, Pa. and William Smith of Bethlehem, Pa. Surviving by a former marriage are a daughter, Mrs. Mazie S. Schaffer of Reading, Pa., and a son, Clarence, in the armed forces at Hawaii.
