Biography

Robert Smith was christened on 30 Jul 1837 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. He was the son of John and Ellen Smith. His father's occupation was recorded as labourer, and the family's address as Eccleston.

By June 6th 1841, the family was living in Springfield Row, Eccleston. John was a labourer. Baby Henry was 4 months old. Elderly Margaret Holland, Ellen's mother, was living with them.

By March 30th 1851, they were still in Eccleston. Robert was working as a labourer.
