Biography
Jacob was a Friend (Quaker)
Jacob Sinton was born about 1700 in County Armagh to William Sinton and Elinor Toppin. He was mentioned in his uncle Thomas Toppin’s will of 25 November 1743.[1] The family were Quakers who were associated with Moyallon, Ballyhegan and Richhill meetings.
Jacob married Sarah Mackie on 6 October 1730 in a Quaker ceremony in Ballyhagan, County Armagh.[2] They settled at Greenmount, in the townland of Rockmacreany, about 1½ miles from Richhill, Co. Armagh. The house at Greenmount is a very large farm house which has at some time been added to, or divided in such a way as to accommodate two separate families. It stands on high ground about 100 yards from the Richhill - Hamiltonsbawn Road. It is situated about 1½ miles from Richhill, Co Armagh.
Jacob and Sarah had ten children.
