Biography
William Sinclair is a member of Clan Sinclair.
William was born to Henry Sinclair (1110-1180) and his wife Elizabeth (Grathenay) Sinclair (abt.1118-)[1] He married Jane Haliburton, daughter of Lord Dirlton and they had two sons: William and Henry.[1]
Research Notes
Hay, in his Genealogie, states on pg. 12
- The eldest son, Henry, was brought into the service of King Robert.
- The second son, William, was made Bishop of Dunkeld.
William Sinclair is recorded as the Bishop of Dunkeld during the time of Robert the Bruce and Edward Balliol, from 1309 until his death on 27 Jun 1337. See: Bishops of Scotland, pg. 61-62
