William Sinclair was born about 1844 in Ballinasloe, County Galway, Ireland^[1], the son of Robert Sinclair and Letitia Finn and brother of Jane Sinclair, Joseph Sinclair, Benjamin Sinclair, Letitia (Sinclair) Cooke and John Finn Sinclair.

He married Eliza Benson on 28 April 1869 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia ^[2]and they were the parents of Robert William Sinclair, John Joseph Sinclair, Thomas Henry Sinclair, Letitia Jane Sinclair, Letitia Sarah (Sinclair) Walesby, Florence Rachel Sinclair and Mary Jane (Sinclair) Walker.

William passed away on 3 September 1931 in Gladesville, New South Wales, Australia^[3][4]and was buried at the Church of England Cemetery at Rookwood, New South Wales, Australia^[5][6].
