Janet, daughter of William Shiel and Betty Hope, was baptised on 15 October 1786 in Crailing, Roxburgh, Scotland.^[1] She married Peter Hutton before 1810.

In the 1850 census, Jennette (age 64) was in Putnam, Washington, New York, United States.^[2]

She passed away in 1853. She was buried in Putnam United Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Putnam, Washington County, New York.^[3]
