William Edward was born about 1826 in the Swellendam district. When he married in 1848 he was a farmer at Spiegels Rivier in the Buffelsdrift district. He passed away in 1880 at Welgevonde.

Baptised on 10 June 1827 by the DRC at Swellendam. Witnesses were Johannes Isaac Cronje, Johanna Jacoba van Wyk, William Edward Scott. His mother had died by the time of his baptism.
